Mystery Road

When there is a mysterious disappearance on an outback cattle station, Detective Jay Swan is assigned to investigate. Working with local cop Emma James, Jay's investigation uncovers a past injustice that threatens the fabric of the whole community.

As the police search for Marley and Reese, the early morning interstate bus arrives in Patterson bringing trouble in two forms — Larry Dime, convicted pedophile and Marley's uncle who has been released on parole after 10 years in jail; and Georgia Clarke, a teenager who has seen the news and recognized Reese as her boyfriend Simon, who went missing two years earlier.

As time runs out to find the missing boys, pressure mounts on Shevorne to reveal what she knows.

With questions hanging over Marley's return and the whereabouts of Reese, Emma brings Marley in for a formal interview. He reveals little, so Jay and Emma take him back to the shed where he was found, and their suspicion only grows. Nothing Marley says adds up with what Jay can see on the ground, and Marley is visibly shocked when they tell him that Reese is not his real name.

As Reese's murder reverberates through the small town of Patterson, his grieving mother Liz asks to hold her son's memorial at Black Springs. However when the request is refused by the local Aboriginal Elders, citing that Black Springs is a ‘sorry place' — Emma is confused. Black Springs is on her family's land, how can it be a sorry place?

After Marley confesses what he knows, Jay hides him to ensure his safety. Emma confronts her brother about the land deal, while Jay tries to find out what really happened to Shevorne.

A decapitated body washes up in the mangroves, drawing Jay Swan to the furtive township of Gideon. It seems drug-related but is it also familiar? Partnered with local cop, Fran, Jay must unlock what the community knows.

Jay and Fran have Dylan on the hook, until a local businessman steps in and bails him out. Jay takes matters into his own hands to rectify the situation. Fran's world comes crashing down as a long-held fear suddenly surfaces.

Struggling with Mary's new relationship, Jay reluctantly uses Simon's help to narrow in on the drugs and murder investigation. With the discovery of the bones, Fran is determined to reopen Zoe's case on her own.

With the case apparently solved Jay is being encouraged to leave town, but something isn't adding up. Jay begins to question the motives of all those around him. Fran is dealt another blow in the search for justice for Zoe.

Now in danger, Mary must lean into Jay for help. Jay struggles to keep Mary safe as the threat closes in on both of them. Fran feels betrayed as she digs deeper into Zoe's disappearance.

Jay is lured into a trap to rescue Mary and an epic gun battle erupts. Will Jay be able to survive this and serve justice? Fran finally gets answers about Zoe and some closure, but it won't be in the form she expects.
