Esther and Benji are platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status obsessed culture of Los Angeles.

It's Benji's birthday and Esther and Jeff take him on a road trip full of fun stops along the way. However, Esther's ulterior motive threatens to derail the celebration.

After visiting a fertility clinic to freeze her own eggs, Esther plans to donate some of her eggs to offset the costs. Meanwhile Benji's paternal instincts kick in as he awaits word on a sperm test.

When Esther and Benji stand in line for a Kylie Cosmetics pop-up store, Esther tries to avoid the distractions of rabid teenage girls and cutthroat moms while Benji roams off and becomes the man he really is — a guy who owns a saltwater aquarium.

When Esther invites a lesbian couple from her building over for a dinner party to convince them to become her mentors, Benji has to help out so she doesn't embarrass herself. In doing so, the two women take more of an interest in Benji inciting Esther's jealousy.

Benji tries to take advantage of her fragile state and puts the moves on her. As Esther tries to entertain the group with activities, Benji is eventually sucked into her earthquake apocalypse freak out.

Esther throws a sober sleepover party to rekindle friendships she made at a bachelorette party, while Benji tries to move a childhood camp friend out of the friend zone.

Benji is excited when he is given the opportunity to accomplish a goal that dates back to his old ska band days – to make a music video.

While Benji manages his brother Dean's apartment complex, both Benji and Esther get swept up in the allure of retirement life, until realizing it may not be all it's cracked up to be.

Benji wonders if he's too much of a pushover when Dean scolds him for letting a stranger into their house. Meanwhile, Esther discovers a Bitcoin windfall but has to seduce an ex-boyfriend to recover her Bitcoin password.

Esther gets a big break with her new job at a 50's-themed diner, while Benji has a confrontation with a store owner that ends with a retaliation that goes viral.

When Dean gets in an accident that leaves him incapacitated, Esther takes the opportunity to nurse him back to health. Meanwhile, Benji tries to step up and help Dean at work.

Dean tasks Benji with selling a house where a murder took place, while Esther uses the real estate to capitalize on people's obsession with murder tours.

Benji and Esther steal a day pass from Dean and gain access to an exclusive upscale gym. Esther meets a poised and successful woman named Nora who inspires her to join her club, while Dean is excited by Benji's sudden fitness enthusiasm and takes him under his wing.

Benji is asked to supervise rehearsals for his former high school's play, but realizes that he hasn't outgrown high school when he comes across a bully. Esther tags along in the hopes of inspiring some drama kids.

Esther's mom pays a surprise visit because she's concerned about Esther's life choices. Meanwhile, Benji tries to make some new Goth friends that end up being a little too risqué for his taste.

Esther and Benji get their first writing room gig on the Dog Awards. Benji thinks it will be his launching pad for success, while Esther hopes to use the platform to raise dog awareness.

Esther and Benji reconnect at a birthday party after a three-month-long fight. Both learn about each other's weird romantic mishaps during their time apart.

Esther and Benji try to stop Jeff from becoming a boring couples-person by hijacking his Big Bear couples retreat.
