Dagashi Kashi

Kokonotsu Shikada is the son of a dagashi snack shop owner. Although he wants to become a manga artist, his father, Yo, wants him to take over the family business. One day, a girl named Hotaru Shidare shows up at the shop and challenges Kokonotsu.

Hotaru tells Kokonotsu that Kinako-bou grabs her attention due to its plain packaging and lack of mascot characters, calling it a desert warrior. She also gives a lecture to Kokonotsu and Saya on the history of Fue Ramune.

Hotaru exacerbates the summer heat by turning off the shop's AC and boiling water to make Buta-men. Saya's suspicions are raised when Hotaru asks about her relationship with Kokonotsu.

Hotaru challenges Kokonotsu to a blind fugashi taste test. She also helps him to run back to Café Endo when he realizes that he forgot something very important.

Hotaru visits Shikada Dagashi after business hours to conduct a covert exchange with Kokonotsu's father Yo. Later, she lets Kokonotsu and To in on her secret moneymaking technique.

Kokonotsu, To, and Saya visit the temple, where they find Hotaru behaving even more strangely than usual. On a separate occasion, Saya reminisces about playing with Kokonotsu when they were in the third grade.

It's summer festival time! Hotaru plans to convert her meager 200 yen of spending money into big winnings at the die-cutting stall. Later on, Saya is very happy when Yo suggests that Kokonotsu escort her around the festival.

Kokonotsu and the gang are cooped up in Shikada Dagashi due to a typhoon. So To starts telling scary stories to liven things up. On a separate occasion, To tells Kokonotsu that he's been researching how to become popular among girls.

Despite suffering from a mouth ulcer, Hotaru ignores Saya's protestations and eats a dagashi that packs a punch. Later on, Hotaru lets Kokonotsu in on the secret of her origins.

When Hotaru doesn't show up at Shikada Dagashi for two days, a concerned Kokonotsu and Saya visit her house to investigate.

When Kokonotsu asks why Shidare Company wants to recruit his dad, Hotaru tries to show him and Saya how amazing Yo is./Kokonotsu and Hotaru discuss dagashi while waiting for a train.

While Hotaru and Saya discuss matters of love, Kokonotsu and To seek once again to improve their fortunes through dagashi. Another day, Kokonotsu tries to use his knowledge of dagashi to impress an expectant Hotaru.

When Kokonotsu whispers a certain word, it summons Hotaru. On a different occasion, Hotaru suddenly shows up at Café Endo to satisfy Saya's wish.

On the day a typhoon is approaching, Saya, To, and Hotaru gather at Kokonotsu's house. As the wind and rain get stronger, Kokonotsu suggests that they spend the night there.

While Kokonotsu and To are trying to figure out how to play with beigoma, Hotaru shows up with her beigoma to battle with them.

Kokonotsu and the gang decide to go to the fireworks festival. When Saya asks him to call Hotaru, he finds her at the shop choosing a Homerun Bar with a very serious face.

Ever since Hotaru stopped coming to Shikada Dagashi, Kokonotsu has been feeling down. On top of that, Yo tells him that the shop is in financial trouble.

Kokonotsu, To and Saya go check out the new convenience store. There, they meet the store's manager, who begins to see Kokonotsu as his rival.

A woman walks into Shikada Dagashi after seeing the help-wanted flyer that Kokonotsu put out on the shop's door and asks him to hire her.

After coming across a woman seeing off Kokonotsu in the morning in front of his shop, Saya cannot stop thinking about it all day long and decides to check out this woman.

After talking to the convenience store manager, Kokonotsu decides to create a website for Shikada Dagashi. On a different occasion, Hajime tries to cover up the fact that she forgot to order a product.

After setting up the shop's website, Shikada Dagashi receives its first delivery order. Later on, Kokonotsu decides to bring his manga to an on-site manga review event.

With the help from Hajime, Saya, and To, Kokonotsu completes his manga in time and brings it to the On-site Manga Review Event.

After a surprise reunion with Hotaru at a train station, Kokonotsu asks her why she suddenly disappeared without saying anything to him.
