With the help of the dog, they begin searching and, after a few detours, are led to a grave at the Wolfratshausen cemetery. But no man is buried in that grave—and the discovered skeleton also shows signs of an accident. Now they must solve a crime that dates back 15 years. But where should they begin their investigation? With the official owners of the grave plot, with the woman who fainted at the sight of the skeleton in the cemetery, or with the dog's owners? There are plenty of possible leads, and at times Hubert is annoyed by the feeling that he has to pursue them all on his own. His colleagues Riedl, Bayer, and Girwidz have secretly been given a special assignment by Sabine Kaiser: to make Hubert's 35th service anniversary a very special day. The fact that the three of them are taking singing lessons from the dog's owner—so they can serenade their colleague—may unexpectedly prove helpful in solving the crime.
A routine patrol by Hubert and Girwidz comes to an abrupt end when a fallen branch blocks their path. As Hubert moves to clear it away, he discovers the body of physiotherapist Frank Albrecht. Apparently, Albrecht had fallen down an unpaved embankment with his bicycle. Before Dr. Fuchs arrives, Girwidz is supposed to secure the initial evidence at the scene, but he twists his knee and ends up in the emergency room of the Wolfratshausen district hospital. He refuses to take sick leave and, despite his limited mobility and against Hubert's wishes, continues to take part in the investigation. During the autopsy, Dr. Fuchs determines that the fatal broken neck could not possibly have been caused by the fall. The prime suspect in Albrecht's murder appears to be Joschi Breitenbichler, who had arranged to meet the victim at the time of the crime. In the Bavarian Oberland, he is known as the "bone breaker"—able to detect blockages and tension simply by touch. However, he has been legally prohibited from practicing his craft on people and allegedly now treats only horses and other livestock.Had the victim discovered that the bone breaker was continuing to treat humans despite the court order? While Girwidz, with his injured knee, finds himself increasingly impressed by the bone breaker's healing skills, a second suspect unexpectedly emerges: Girwidz's own attending physician, the surgeon at the Wolfratshausen district hospital, Dr. Wilfried Söderling.

While searching for the heavily intoxicated Jens Dausinger, Hubert and Girwidz discover the body of his father, Georg, in the hayloft of the stud farm. The murderer has impaled him against the wall with a pitchfork.Jens quickly falls under suspicion of murder. One possible motive appears to be his unconventional hobby, which his father strongly criticized—just like the rest of Jens's life. Together with the disabled Jasmin Forchhammer, Jens teaches children and young women hobby horse riding. The activity, known as "horsing" in Finland, allows children from low-income families to practice equestrian sport without owning a real horse. As the noose slowly tightens around Jens Dausinger, Dr. Fuchs discovers during the autopsy that the victim had sexual intercourse shortly before his death. Armed with saliva test kits, Hubert and Girwidz pursue the trail of what may be a crime of passion—and once again stumble upon Jens Dausinger's co-trainer in hobby horse riding, Jasmin Forchhammer…
The rampaging boar Kurt is wreaking havoc in Wolfratshausen, throwing residents into fear and panic. Hubert and Girwidz are tasked with stopping the animal—by force if necessary. But despite not holding back on ammunition, the culprit escapes into the forest. While searching for it, Hubert and Girwidz stumble upon the body of district forester Ulf Gröschel, with a gunshot wound in his back. Police Councillor Kaiser concludes that Hubert and Girwidz must have shot the forester during their wild boar hunt and promptly confiscates their service weapons. Although it turns out that the forester was already dead before the officers found him, Hubert and Girwidz are still ordered to undergo firearms training. The first lead points to farmer Xaver Vogel, who had been seriously at odds with the forester. The problem: instead of controlling the wild boar population and maintaining the forest fences, the forester preferred to feed the animals—who were causing extensive crop damage. But Resi Gröschel, the victim's wife, also comes under scrutiny.Meanwhile, Kaiser decides to take down the troublesome boar herself. Just as Hubert and Girwidz are close to solving the murder, they are suddenly shot at from ambush. The gunman escapes. Courageously, Hubert and Girwidz give chase—without considering that the suspect is armed, while they themselves are left with empty holsters.
Hubert and Girwidz originally just want to settle a dispute between bathers at the lake, when a passerby calls them over after discovering the body of a cyclist. Even at the scene, Dr. Fuchs realizes that the cyclist did not die from the fall alone—he had also been beaten. For Chief Inspector Kaiser, who has just taken delivery of a new electric patrol car for the precinct, the case is particularly sensitive. For months, an unknown individual has been terrorizing cyclists at Lake Starnberg. While Riedl and his colleague Christina visit some of the previous victims to learn more about the suspect, Hubert and Girwidz face a very different problem. During a test drive with the new electric vehicle in the station parking lot, Girwidz damaged the charging station—a mishap he does not want to confess to the boss, especially since he was not even allowed behind the wheel without a driver's license. When the two finally return to collect the victim's bicycle from the scene and take it in for forensic examination, they discover that it has been stolen—except for the front wheel, which was still chained up. A lead eventually points to young Patricia Wagner, who had lost her unborn child some time ago after colliding with a pizza delivery cyclist.
Hubert and Girwidz are initially just supposed to disperse a group of young people gathered in front of the property of a certain Peter Weber. But upon arrival, the officers discover that the youths are masked and making rather bizarre demands. Then a fire breaks out—and in the ruins, the fire brigade discovers a body, apparently that of the homeowner, Peter Weber.Back at the station, Christina Bayer fills them in: Peter Weber was an eccentric internet personality who dressed up as the fairy-tale King Ludwig II and streamed daily cooking sessions online, strongly polarizing his audience. In fact, most of his viewers were "haters" who tuned in mainly to mock him. For Hubert and Girwidz, this is unfamiliar territory, so Christina is sent out with Hubert to take a closer look at the late "Kini's" fans.Meanwhile, Riedl has to step into the role of the deceased internet cook and produce replacement content so that the audience—and potentially the killer—doesn't drift away. It soon becomes clear that someone hiding behind the alias "Freiherr von Lutz" had been particularly aggressive in inciting hostility against Peter Weber…
While on patrol, Hubert and Girwidz discover a motorcyclist who has crashed in a meadow. As they try to stop, their brakes fail and the patrol car also ends up in the grass. The officers escape with a scare, but the motorcyclist, Martin Fritz, is less fortunate—he is seriously injured and taken to intensive care. Back at the station, Christina and Chief Inspector Kaiser are dealing with an aggressive speeder whose car Hubert and Girwidz had impounded the day before. It turns out that someone cut the brake lines on Martin Fritz's motorcycle—while a marten had been at work on the patrol car! Since the case is now considered attempted murder, Hubert and Girwidz don't want to wait for their vehicle to be repaired and instead borrow the impounded car from the speeder. They use it to drive to a countryside photo shoot, as Martin Fritz had been on his way back from a shoot for a farmers' calendar when the accident occurred. The officers speculate that disputes among the young farmers could be the motive behind the sabotage. In the middle of the investigation, Hubert suddenly loses his hearing. Dr. Fuchs suspects that the marten repellent device Riedl installed in the patrol car is the cause of Hubert's hearing loss…
Hubert and Girwidz ring the doorbell of Arno Heinrich, who had reported his wallet stolen. It is the fifth wallet theft in a short period of time, all occurring in the vicinity of the Rattlinger bakery. Inside, the officers find the homeowner dead on the couch, with a whiskey glass containing the remnants of a pungent liquid in front of him.The young Janina Schulz lives with Arno Heinrich. He was her professor and the most famous philosopher in Germany—suicide is out of the question for her. Dr. Fuchs soon confirms this, as no fingerprints can be found on the glass containing the lethal substance. The poison used is the same that once killed the philosopher Socrates. The victim's calendar quickly leads Hubert and Girwidz to the reclusive Professor Reinfried Gluck, Heinrich's superior. However, all they get from him for the moment is a severe irritation of Girwidz's nasal passages after an overdose of snuff. Through Janina's mother—who is trying to mend the strained relationship with her daughter—the investigators become aware of Janina's ex-boyfriend Markus. But here, too, Hubert and Girwidz seem to have reached a dead end. The young lawyer vehemently insists on his innocence. Only when Janina discovers mysterious threatening letters in Arno Heinrich's desk and a break-in occurs at the victim's house do the investigations gain new momentum…
Fourteen-year-old Wastl, who wants to publish an article about police work in his school newspaper, accompanies Hubert and Girwidz during a speed check. When Riedl stops a speeding prototype car, the investigators discover the body of Rosalie Motz inside. Dr. Fuchs determines that she was murdered. When Hubert and Girwidz visit her father, Ferdinand Motz, they learn that Rosalie had been a test driver for the start-up of Gernot Schirrmeister—who proves to be anything but cooperative. He is mainly concerned with getting his prototype back in order to protect the technical secrets it contains. These very secrets also interest journalist Titus Eggert. When the officers discover that he knew the victim and had even spent a night in the mountains with her shortly before her death, he becomes highly suspicious.Meanwhile, Tom Burgmüller has written a perhaps overly candid article for the school newspaper about Hubert and Girwidz's unorthodox investigative methods. Normally, this might not concern station chief Sabine Kaiser—if Tom weren't the police commissioner's nephew…
Jessica Jablonski lies dead in her apartment. Apparently, the shopaholic woman died while opening a package. A detonator suggests that it was equipped with an explosive device.According to the pathology report, Jablonski suffered from a heart defect and may have died of shock. The box contained an information flyer for a psychotherapy practice that treats shopping addiction. Therapist Nadine Stäble rejects any suspicion.Since no cell phone was found in the victim's apartment, the investigators have it located. It soon becomes clear that neighbor Anja Strom stole the cell phone at the scene of the crime. Hubert and Girwidz follow her. Anja Strom confronts her boyfriend Stefan Zeindl, who apparently had a relationship with the victim. A clear motive. And Zeindl also comes under suspicion – after all, he is a pyrotechnician! Thanks to Riedl, who is investigating a series of parcel thefts and tracking down the delivery driver, the trail soon leads to another neighbor of the victim. Late riser Frank Kreitmayr apparently felt compelled to accept parcels for Ms. Jablonski every day.
While jogging together, Christina stumbles upon the body of asset manager Peter Münch. How he died is initially unclear, as there is a strange wound on his neck. The question of where the victim was before his death is also not easy to answer. While his widow Erika Münch believes he was at the community center attending a support group for overweight people, the "Festen Freunde" (Close Friends) – as the group is called – claim that Peter Münch had not attended their meetings for weeks. It also quickly becomes clear that the deceased had no real friends among the members and that there is generally a tense atmosphere within the group. When it emerges that the group's initiator, Frank Leibnitz, has also stolen money from the group's joint fund, the situation threatens to escalate completely.Girwidz, however, is only half paying attention; he has completely different problems: in a few days, he has his MPU (medical-psychological assessment) and hopes to finally get his driver's license back. He hasn't told his colleagues yet – in the unlikely event that he fails, he doesn't want to embarrass himself. However, when he learns during the investigation at the community center that special courses are offered to prepare for the MPU, he panics and wonders if he is really well enough prepared. Because time is running out, Yazid is supposed to fix it with a crash course.Meanwhile, Hubert and Christina discover that the deceased had incurred the wrath of some clients in his role as asset manager, most notably Frank Leibnitz from the "Festen Freunde" (Close Friends) ...
A cat shot dead in Wolfratshausen becomes Riedl's case after a brief assessment of the situation. Hubert and Girwidz have to take care of a priest who has been shot. But instead of being shocked, like Lothar Bienek, who is also present and has just buried his mother, or wondering why this has happened to him, the priest immediately names a suspect: the chairman of the shooting club, with whom he has been in a dispute for years.Hubert and Girwidz investigate the accusations and actually find the murder weapon. The fact that it is the chairman's small-caliber rifle fuels the suspicion that he really was the shooter. The case seems to be solved until Dr. Fuchs throws a spanner in the works for the police. Her analysis has revealed that the bullet that killed the cat also came from the rifle. The shooting club chairman is ruled out as the perpetrator and the investigation starts all over again. With Riedl's help, Hubert and Girwidz find a new lead, as there is one person who was at both crime scenes.
Far away from civilization, Riedl roams through the wilderness. He is on the trail of poachers who have been hunting cormorants for some time. Suddenly, a retriever shoots out of a conifer tree, carrying a shoe in its mouth. Riedel approaches the fir tree, pushes the branches aside, and discovers the body of a man with a bullet hole between his eyes. The investigators find nothing to indicate the man's identity. The only clue to the perpetrator is long, white hair in the branches of the fir tree. Since the area is heavily hunted, Girwidz thinks it could be a hunting accident. No one but a fish farmer would benefit from the death of a cormorant. That's where they should start.Shortly afterwards, it turns out that the dead man is a violist who played in a string quartet at a wedding the night before. It appears that he was shot on his way home. The three local fish farmers are summoned for questioning the next morning. A rough-looking fellow with his gray hair tied back in a ponytail immediately catches the investigators' eye. He vehemently denies the accusations. In the course of the investigation, it emerges that the deceased was having an affair with the only woman in the string quartet and that her boyfriend has a hunting license. But his alibi is watertight...
During their morning patrol, steam suddenly starts coming out of the patrol car's engine compartment. To avoid a piston seizure, Hubert and Girwidz head to Detlef Lechner's run-down dairy farm. But when Lechner sees them coming, he takes off, much to Girwidz's surprise.Following the sound of knocking coming from a dilapidated shed, Hubert and Girwidz discover the reason for Lechner's hasty departure: Lisa Simlinger, the daughter of an influential fashion designer, is handcuffed to a chair. Lechner has apparently kidnapped the young girl and demanded a ransom of half a million euros. The victim's family has avoided involving the police. When Hubert and Girwidz bring the girl home, they discover Lechner's crashed car on the way. For no apparent reason, Lechner seems to have veered off the road and crashed into a tree. However, Dr. Fuchs' autopsy reveals that Lechner was under the influence of strong medication, which he took regularly due to cancer.Hubert is certain that Lechner must have had help with the kidnapping. Together with Girwidz, he investigates the kidnapping victim's circle of acquaintances and comes across Felix Geiger, a horse trainer. Geiger was in a relationship with the kidnapped Lisa before her domineering mother forced Felix to end the relationship.
Hubert and Girwidz find little Lina completely alone and unsupervised outside a kindergarten, whereupon Hubert gains access to the kindergarten. In the kindergarten director's office, he discovers the body of teacher Simone Hackl. Apparently, a burglar gained access and broke open the cash box.Since the burglar must have been seen by kindergarten child Lina, Hubert suspects that the break-in was only staged to distract from another motive. The decision to hold an extraordinary parents' council meeting seems to prove him right, as the parents have demanded the immediate dismissal of the dead teacher.Hubert and Girwidz grill the parents and find out that most of them did not agree with the victim's teaching methods. What's more, the chair of the parents' council, Michaela Schmidhofer, accuses the victim of assault. The victim is said to have given her "tasty" meatballs to her vegan daughter to eat.Hubert and Girwidz ask themselves whether this unusual act of bodily harm is sufficient to commit murder. Despite their unconventional investigation methods, it is kindergarten child Lina who provides the decisive clue.
When Sabine Kaiser's car is towed away, she wants to get it back with Hubert's help. Unfortunately, they find the tow truck driver Tristan Kübler beaten to death in the parking lot. His wife Mara is Sabine's hairdresser. Devastated, she points to a colleague of the victim, Gabriel Haas, with whom Tristan is said to have spent the night. He claims to have only given the victim an alibi. In reality, Tristan Kübler was having an affair and was with another woman: Jeannette Sievers turns out to be more than just the victim's mistress. The artist also has a possible murder weapon in her workshop: a decorative pineapple.According to pathologist Fuchs, the victim was killed with a gold-painted object. However, it is also possible that Tristan Kübler did not notice the brain edema after the attack and continued working. This means that the widow is also a possible suspect. After all, she would have had a strong motive for jealousy if she knew about the affair. To find out whether she may have left her salon, Riedl searches for the street musician who was standing in front of the salon in the morning – in vain. When they discover the identity of the witness, it turns out that he is homeless and was also recently towed away...
