Combat! is an American television program that originally aired on ABC from 1962 until 1967. The show covered the grim lives of a squad of American soldiers fighting the Germans in France during World War II. The program starred Rick Jason as platoon leader Second Lieutenant Gil Hanley and Vic Morrow as Sergeant "Chip" Saunders.

Sgt. Saunders has to search a deserted town for Germans with 3 very inexperienced soldiers, in which one may be a coward.
Sgt. Turk, the demolition expert with bad attitude, is tasked to blow up the bridge that is several kilometers behind enemy lines. What he expected as a protection is at least a platoon, but instead he gets a small squad led by Sgt. Saunders.
While on patrol, the team comes upon a mute girl (Anjanette Comer) in a farm house. Intelligence wants to question the girl, but Hanley wants her to get medical aid.
A wounded Lt. Hanley is replaced in the field by Lieutenant Douglas ('Joseph Campanella'), who proves to be surly and opinionated even by Saunders' standards.
While on a mission to tap German communication lines, Saunder's squad is forced to hide out in a barn when an advance German communication team unexpectedly shows up. When they overhear the Germans' talking about the arrival of a high-ranking officer, Saunders hatches a plan to capture him.
The Americans liberate a French village, and a young French girl follows Sgt. Saunders squad. She wants to be a nurse, but Saunders tells her to go away. However, her bravery wins even Saunders hardened heart.
