Synopsis

20/20 is an American television newsmagazine that has been broadcast on ABC since June 6, 1978. Created by ABC News executive Roone Arledge, the show was designed similarly to CBS's 60 Minutes but focuses more on human interest stories than international and political subjects. The program's name derives from the "20/20" measurement of visual acuity. The hour-long program has been a staple on Friday evenings for much of the time since it moved to that timeslot from Thursdays in September 1987, though special editions of the program occasionally air on other nights.

Her body was discovered two days later in a landfill in Georgia, and the community was shocked to learn that there were 162 known sex offenders and predators living amongst them within a five mile radius of Somer's elementary school.

    Aired · Sat, Oct 17, 2015 · 60m

The so-called "affluenza" case of a Texas teenager who caused a fatal car accident that killed four people and severely wounded another made national headlines in 2013 when 16-year-old Ethan Couch's defense team used an unusual argument during the trial. During Couch's sentencing, a psychologist hired by the defense testified that the teen was a product of "affluenza" -- a term used to describe Couch's irresponsible lifestyle associated with his affluent upbringing -- and that irresponsible parenting had "strongly enabled" the accident, despite the fact that Couch had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit on the night of the crash.

"Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself… you are evil," Remini told ABC's Dan Harris in a new promotional clip from the interview. Remini, 45, describes how she and her family joined the Church when she was a young girl, built a successful acting career in Hollywood while being a diligent Scientologist, and how she eventually decided to sever ties with the Church."As time goes on, you start to lose touch with the real world. The mindset becomes ‘Us against them,'" Remini said. "The decision to leave is you are giving up everything you have ever known and everything you have worked for your whole life." The actress also details her 30-year association with the Church in her new memoir, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology." "I feel that people need to understand this has been my whole life," Remini said "I want them to understand how it happens."

Although there was little physical evidence and no DNA linking any of the men to the crime, a jury convicted Zach at trial — based mainly on Jason's testimony, in which he stated that he had been present when Zach shot and killed Holly. Dylan Adams and Jason Autry both eventually pleaded guilty to lesser charges. Earlier this year, Jason recanted his testimony, saying he made it all up, and while prosecutors stand by the conviction, lawyers for Zach are now asking a judge to grant him a new trial.

    Aired · Sat, May 2, 2026 · 120m

What started as a suspicious house fire in a quiet Cincinnati suburb soon led to something far more sinister. When firefighters arrived at the scene, investigators quickly determined the blaze had been intentionally set, and security footage showed two people appearing to orchestrate the fire. Homeowner Paul Hicks accused his ex-girlfriend of being behind it, but as authorities dug deeper, her alibi held … as did his. The case took a startling turn when evidence, including a custom mask made to resemble his ex and a matching wig, led investigators to question the homeowner himself. Hicks denied that he had any involvement in the arson or the purchase of these items and eventually pleaded to a single misdemeanor count of insurance fraud, receiving a sentence of probation. He was not convicted in connection with setting the fire at his home. Around the same time, investigators were looking at Hicks in the unsolved death of his ex-wife, Regina. In October 2001, she seemingly vanished and was later discovered dead inside her car, which was submerged at the bottom of a pond. Analysis of the vehicle's trajectory undercut a long-held theory that Regina's death could have been an accident, and a witness finally comes forward with startling new information on the person responsible.
